Little Things Mean A Lot

Dear Everyone:

Sometimes I look back over my past posts just to make sure that I'm not repeating myself too much.  In that process, I have noticed that I use the word 'little' a lot.  Now, I'm no psychologist, but I think, maybe, the habit stems from early childhood.  As long as I can remember, I have always liked babies, puppies, kittens, play tea sets, play houses, dolls, dark small places, fairies, and we always lived in a small house that I felt very secure and happy in.

Anyway, it got me thinking of how much importance the little things in life mean to all of us.  So here are a few of the 'little things' that mean so much to me:

Looking out at the snow from the doorway of  a warm Cottage.

Being able to pick the daffodils before the snow storm bends them down too much.

Having a warm coat on a cold day.

Using clothing as decorating objects.

Things that make me smile.

Memories of good family time.

Toys of long ago.

Morning Glories - Until the real ones come along.

Pretty hand work.

Special gifts from an old friend.

Looking into the eyes of a sweet and kind old soul.

Sugar and Spice and Every Thing Nice.

Sugar and Spice - all grown up.

Frogs and Snails and Puppy Dog Tails.

Looking at anything through lace curtains.

Having a good meal waiting for you.

Sipping a hot cup of tea, on a cold snowy day, waiting for the new kitchen appliances to be delivered.

I am so thankful for being blessed with all the little things in my life.

Here's to the little things in your life....Have a great weekend...Judy

I have just linked up with Haken over at The Rosegarden in Malevik, for Saturday Show Off.  www.maleviksrosentradgard.blogspot.com(I hope I did it right)

  1. I loved this post. I think we all have to take note of all the blessings in our lives. It's what 'gets us through the night', as they say. I loved the lace curtains. Add a cat to the window and it is even better. Your old dog reminds me of my 12 year old sheltie, Kane. Same look in the sweet, old eyes. You have a really nice and inspirational blog. 1. Hi Deb: I'm so happy to meet you. I have just signed up over at your lovely blog also. Usually our Maggie is in the window, but since it snowed today she is holed up on her Princess Pillow by the fire. Thank you for your very sweet comments and thanks for coming to visit at the Cottage..Happy Weekend..Judy

  4. Oh Judy what a beautiful post!!! It's so true..it's the little things in life that are the most important. Your photo's are wonderful. I had a teddy very similar to yours. Mine was old too...stuffed with straw and covered in mohair with suede leather paws with embroidered claws and jointed legs and glass eyes. When you pumped his my teddy's tummy he played Braum's Lulaby. I wish I still had it. I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

    1. Thanks, Maura. Your comments are always so sweet and appreciated. I do have to say that even though the Teddy Bear is an old toy, he wasn't my old toy. Got him from a neighbor when his mom passed away. However, the Scottie Dog was a present to me for my first birthday. He is covered with real hair (kind of creepy) and, poor thing, has a slight case of the mange! After all he is pretty old!! Hope you have a wonderful weekend..Judy

  5. Oh, Judy whata precious thought! Made me think of the poem I read my children, "All things bright and beautiful, All creatures great and "small", All things wise and wonderful, the Lord God made them all." The small things are beautiful. We must not forget the little things. Sweet, sweet post!

  6. It is always good to reflect on our life and think about what we have to be grateful for. You have a lot to be thankful for. I agree that the little things are what sustains us every day. The big things come sporatically. But the little things should make us happy every day. That is a wonderful way to look at life!

    1. Hi BeckyWise: I'm so glad to hear from you. You are such a sweetheart to say those kind things. We can never have too many little things around us in our life, because they make up the large majority, and I'm so proud of you at your young age to know that. That little boy fishing was about 5 years old then. He is my grandson and is now 18 years old. If you thought he was adorable then, you should see him now!..Happy Weekend..Judy

  13. Dear Judy,
How i remember when you first started blogging.. Your blogs get better and better.
It truly is the "little" things in life that make a difference.
The composition of your blog and the photos are so lovely.. your daughter as a young girl and now all grown up.
I like to use a scarf sometimes thrown over my bedside lamp for effect.. I like fans put at the back or in front of my books.
Silly "little" things really..but i do like it.
    As always Judy great post.
Hope the kitchen is coming along.
    Happy weekend.

  14. Hi Val: Thanks for another sweet and kind comment. I enjoy you so much. I'm glad I might be getting better at it, there is no other way but up!! Thank you for saying so. I love the idea of a scarf over a lamp. So soft. They delivered the appliances this morning and I will be sending out a really quick post probably tomorrow.. I'm sure everyone will be sick of seeing me until this make-over is completed! Thanks again, Val, and Happy Weekend..Judy
